My husband had gone to school in San Antonio and was excited to be back. He wanted to show me some of his favorite places and couldn't wait to do so.
First off he said the best way to know where you are is to look for this tower- The Tower of the Americas - that is to the left in this picture only he kept on calling it the Hemi-Tower. It was built for a special worlds fair event (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HemisFair_%2768 ) and is located in Hemisfair Park right next to the convention center. ..
One of the things that I noticed was how they like their lights in the city. Even under the bridges they were lit up. It gave a festive feeling to the town.
What we didn't realize that we were actually driving into a Halloween festival. We were so glad when we were finally able to get out of the huge traffic jam. All these roads were closed and people couldn't go where they wanted to.
We noticed that the Rivercenter had a lot of activity going around it and wonder if that was it.
We were just glad to finally get by it. Then when we were looking for the hotel I noticed all these birds on the wire and decided to get a picture of it.
My husband had a favorite restaurant that he used to like to go to because it was open 24/7 and the food was good and reasonably priced. For a college student that stayed up late at night that was a major convince and he really liked the food too so it didn't get any better than that for him. Once before we tried to find it but didn't have any luck but this time because traffic had been rerouted in places we came upon it by shear accident. He was happy to find it and know we know where it is if we ever get back to San Antonio we'll be visiting it again. It's called Mi Tierra Cafe. & here's what the front looks like. The adress is 218 Produce Row, Inside the Market Square. We saw it from Dolorosa St.
When you walk into it -its like going into a fair tail place. Its so decked out and festive looking.
Even the booth area where we were sitting was fascinating to look at with all the pictures that they had on the wall.
They are suppose to have seating for 600 and because of that they have a lot of servers. Here were two of them waiting to help in front of their store goods area.
This was the front entrance as we were leaving.
What I liked was they had a bakery area where you could get fresh baked goods. We wanted to try something but we were so fill from our dinner we regrettably had to walk on by. I could only imagine how good the stuff would be because the food we had eat was excellent and I'm sure the bakery stuff is made with the same standard as the other food.
We liked it so much we came back the next night, only this time we were in a different area. It was still just as festive and fun to go to. It did not surprise me to see all the parties that were being celebrated there. What a perfect place to go.
